The Korea Sports Promotion Foundation (KSPO) was founded as a public service corporation on April 20, 1989 with authorization from the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism in order to commemorate the 1988 Summer Olympics and perform a variety of projects for national sports promotion. As a strong supporter of financial affairs for Korean sports, the KSPO will contribute to improving quality of life so that all Korean people can live in harmony through sports and enjoy a healthy life through sports in daily life.

2010s

2016

January. Merged Korea Foundation for the Next Generation Sports Talent with KSPO

June. Opened Geochang Golf Course

2014

February. Changed name of Sports Science Research Center of the Korea Sports Council to Korea Institute of Sports Science

October. Opened Yeonggwang Golf Course

2013

September. Tour de Korea upgraded (2.1 Class)

September. Suffrage Project for Sports Promotion obtained highest ranking at integrity assessment of the World Lottery Association (Level-4)

2012

September. Opened Jecheon Golf Course

November. Opened K-art Hall (Taekwondo Theatre)

December. Relocated and integrated Sports Goods Testing & Inspection Center (Yongin, Gyeonggi-do)

April. Held Tour de Korea 2011

April. Opened Yeongjongdo Boat Racing Training Center

June. Opened Gwangsan Golf Course

June. Reopened Olympic Hall

September. Opened Jeongseon Golf Course

November. Opened Handball Stadium

December. Sports Science Research Center selected as chair-organization of UNESCO
